Alpha, Camptown to clash in GFF Super League opening feature

Victoria Kings battle Rosignol United in opener

The Historic Guyana Football Federation Super League sponsored under FIFA’s Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF project is set to kick off on Sunday at the once World famous GCC ground Bourda with two matches.
Leading city club’s Alpha United, triple defending Cellink Premier League (CPL) champions and Camptown, runner-up in the last CPL will throw down the gauntlet to each other in Sunday’s feature from 19:00hrs.
Since this is a first time tournament featuring ten-clubs from around Guyana and will only be a one round competition in this pilot stage, teams will be leaving nothing to chance as they seek full points from the onset.
It is left to be seen if clubs will be employing any new strategies in this competition which features a number of unknowns which can very well spring a number of surprises.

The opening game on Sunday brings together Victoria Kings of East Demerara who were once a very potent unit to reckon with.
They will be matching skills with Rosignol United of Berbice in what is anticipated to be a mouth watering match up.
This league will only be played on Sunday’s at varying venues around the country. Some five (5) matches are set for Sunday September 13. At the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, Bakewell Topp XX will open against Liquid Gold of Bartica at 18:00hrs with the main attraction between another Linden side, Milerock against their city counterparts, Camptown.
Competitive football is set to make a grand return to the Camp Ayangana ground also on the 13th. The Guyana Defence Force will lock horns with Victoria Kings.

Up at Blairmont of the West Coast of Berbice, Rosignol United will face Buxton United and over at the Uitvlugt Community Centre ground, home team Seawall FC based at Pouderoyen will take on Alpha United.
Kick off time in the latter three matches is 18:00hrs. (Franklin Wilson)
